In reading, we have been working on the story “Aero and Officer Mike”.  The students have really enjoyed learning about the duties of a k-9 officer and the relationship between the two partners. 

In math, we are about to wrap up our second unit on data collection.  We will begin unit 3 on Monday, October 19th.  The new unit will focus on place value and locating numbers on a 1,000 chart. 

For science, we are moving from the joints in our body to the muscles.  We will begin making a model of our leg and arm which will include bones, and the muscles.  The kids really enjoy working on this activity.

In writing, we are beginning a how-to paragraph. The students are excited about writing about their favorite sandwich and how to make it.  It makes them hungry while writing.

This Friday is our Student of the Month assembly.  We will honor Kayla and Jimmy for a job well done.  We will also honor Noah and Jimmy for making honor roll.  Several members of our class have made perfect attendance and will also be honored.  The assembly will be in the bus court and will begin at 8:45 am.

Friday is also the date of the Fall Festival sponsored by the PTA.  The tickets have gone home today and your child must have pre-registered in order to attend. 

Save the date for our Family Reading Night.  It is November 3rd.  We are so excited to have a fun night out to encourage literacy in the lives of our students.  Be on the look out for more information that will be coming home!
